Pak-Arab Housing Scam: NAB Recovers Rs 2.26 Billion and Distributes Among Affectees
The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) Lahore has announced a mega recovery of Rs 2.26 billion in the notorious Pak-Arab Housing Scam, which will be distributed among 2,300 affectees of the fraudulent scheme. The announcement was made by the Director General (DG) of NAB Lahore, Mr. Amjad Majeed Aulakh, in a monthly open court held at NAB Lahore on Friday.
According to the details, the Pak-Arab Housing Society had lured the general public to invest in its housing project by offering attractive plots and facilities. However, the society failed to deliver the promised plots and amenities, and instead misappropriated the funds of the investors. The NAB Lahore had initiated an inquiry against the society in 2019, and filed a reference in the accountability court in 2020. The NAB Lahore had also frozen the assets of the society and its owners, and arrested some of the accused persons.
The DG NAB Lahore said that the bureau had successfully recovered Rs 2.26 billion from the society administration, which will be returned to the affectees without any further delay. He said that the NAB Lahore had verified the claims of the affectees through a transparent and swift process, and prepared a list of eligible claimants. He said that the NAB Lahore will soon distribute cheques among the affectees, and requested them to contact the NAB Lahore office for further details.
The DG NAB Lahore also addressed the complaints of other housing sector claimants and affectees, who had participated in the open court. He said that the NAB Lahore was prioritizing the cases of housing scams, and taking action against the fraudulent housing societies and developers. He said that the NAB Lahore had also recovered money from other housing scams, such as Palm Vista, Al-Rehman Garden, Lahore Garden, Elite Town, Ashrafi Town, and WAPDA Town Cooperative Society. He said that the NAB Lahore was also pursuing the cases of SB Mall, Faisalabad, and other cheating public at large matters.
The DG NAB Lahore assured the participants of the open court that the NAB Lahore was committed to providing relief to the victims of corruption and fraud, and bringing the culprits to justice. He said that the NAB Lahore will continue to hold open courts regularly, as per the vision of the Chairman NAB Lt. Gen (Retd) Nazir Ahmed, to facilitate the general public and bridge the gap between the bureau and the people. He also urged the people to report any corruption or fraud to the NAB Lahore, and cooperate with the bureau in its inquiries and investigations. He said that the NAB Lahore was working with honesty and professionalism, and following the motto of “Accountability for All”.
